Meet Our Sheikh

 

Sheikh Jamal El Chebli was born in Tripoli, Lebanon. He received his academic education at the Islamic University of al-Medina in Saudi Arabia, where he got his B.A in Daw’ah and Usul Al-Deen, and the University of Kent at Canterbury, England where he got his M.A in Politics and International Relations. While in Lebanon, Sheikh El Chebli got his Islamic Studies Diploma through Al-Azhar School in Beirut. He has served as Imam in many Masajid in Tripoli, Lebanon.
Sheikh Jamal was called by the Islamic Society of Greater Harrisburg, PA where he served as an Imam from 1996 to 1998. At the end of 1998, he was selected to serve as an Islamic Chaplain at Pennsylvania Department of Correction in Chester State Correctional Facility. Sheikh Jamal El Chebli since 2012 joined the New Jersey Department of Corrections as Muslim Chaplain. In 2017, he was promoted to be the Islamic Chaplains Supervisor in New Jersey State Prison. In addition, he is the Resident Imam of Masjid Shuhada in Mount Holly, NJ.
